Italian Flag

The flag of Italy is a tricolour flag featuring three vertical bands of equal width. The bands are coloured green, white, and red. The green band is at the hoist side, the white band is in the middle, and the red band is at the fly side. The flag is sometimes called the "Il Tricolore" (The Tricolour). The flag was adopted as the national flag of Italy on 19 June 1946, after being used as the flag of the Italian resistance during World War II. The flag is also used as the flag of other Italian-speaking countries, such as San Marino and Vatican City.
